KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent & the Grenadines -- St. Vincent & the Grenadines head coach Cornelius Huggins believes that his team should have defeated visiting Guyana in the opener of their World Cup Qualifying, second-round series that ended in a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.
Huggins, who competed in 24 qualifiers as a player for the Vincy Heat, contends that finishing proved to be an obstacle, especially in the first forty-five minutes at Arnos Vale Playing Field.
“In the first half, we were supposed to be 3-1 up,” said the 40-year-old. ”Too many one v one opportunities were missed.”
With the return leg set for Sunday in Providence, Guyana, Huggins doesn’t want to deviate from the game plan. The former central defender just wants to see better execution.
“We don’t have to worry about Guyana,” he finished. “We just have to take care of ourselves and we will reach far.”
