HEREDIA, Costa Rica – Newly-crowned Costa Rican champion Herediano announced Friday that it has reached an agreement with head coach Odir Jacques on a one-year contract.
Jacques replaced Mauricio Wright on April 30, leading the Florenses to a 24th domestic title by outlasting Alajuelense 3-2 on penalty kicks after their two-legged final ended 3-3 on aggregate.
With that triumph, the 69-year-old equaled Marvin Rodriguez’s record for the most Costa Rican championships won by a head coach with six (five of them with Herediano: 1978, 1981, 1985, 2012 Verano, 2015 Verano).
Herediano reached the semifinals of the 2014/15 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League and has secured a place in the next edition as well.
